1983 ¾ton Suburban "Sasquatch"

(9/2001) For those of you asking about my 'burban beast. It's out to pasture but not retired just yet. I moved to Texas and left it at my parents house in Colorado. So it only sees action a few times a year... an easy life for a faithful steed :)

It's an '83 Suburban 3/4 ton. Why a suburban? Kids! And lots of them. The burb'n has proved to be great on the trails and now I'm kind of hooked on keeping it going. All I've done so far is add a 6" suspension lift, 35" TSL/SX Super Swampers (on 16.5" rims), and Bushwacker cutout fender flares (removed while wheelin). For now I have the stock semi-floater ¾-ton axles with the stock 3.73:1 gear ratio. Thanks to my "granny" low I still get a respectable crawl ratio. I have a set of 1-ton axles sitting patiently in my garage, a 14-bolt full floater for the rear and a Dana 60 for up front. I still haven't had the time or money to get these done. I decided to install ARB lockers in both front and rear and probably use the 4.56:1 gear ratio. After that I'd like to get a winch, a big block (it's running a tired stock 350), and a roll cage.

1983 K20 3/4T Chevrolet Suburban, 350 cid engine, 4bbl rochester carb, 40 gallon gas tank, trailer brakes, towing package, 150K+ miles, 4-speed tranny with "granny" low, NP208 transfer case, open semi-floater differentials (corporate) with 3.73:1 gear ratio, seats 9, no fluff! Stock crawl ratio is about 63:1, not bad.
